"Ye are of your father the devil, and the lust of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning and abode not in the truth because there is no TRUTH in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar and the father of it."

1. Read John 8:44. According to this passage, how deep is satan's hatred of the truth?

2. Why do you think he hates the truth so much?

3. Think of one time when you believe a lie of the enemy. Describe it below. What ultimately made you see that this was a lie?

4. Read Genesis 3:1-6. How did satan twist the truth in these verses?

5. How was this a challenge to the love of God?

6. Compare Genesis 3:1-6 to Matthew 4:1-11. How were the temptations of Jesus similar to what we saw in the garden?

7. How did Jesus combat the lies of the devil?

8. How did the devil respond to Jesus after Jesus conquered the temptations?

9. What did Jesus have to believe to be true in order to respond the way He did?
