BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS
Matthew 7:15-16
"Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"
There are so many churches and false religions today because there are so many false teachers and preachers.
Matt. 24:4-5,11,24-25
"Jesus said, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. For there shall arise false Christ's, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Behold, I have told you before."
We are not to follow signs and wonders, for false prophets use miracles to deceive people.
Matthew 7:22-23
"Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and then will I profess unto them. I never know you depart from me, ye that work iniquity."
II Corinthians 11:13-15
Paul spoke about false prophets on this wise:
"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. and no marvel, for satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works."
II Thes. 2:3,9-10
'Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;.....even him, whose coming is after the working of satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, and with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved."
Romans 16:17-18
"Now I beseech you brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offenses contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple."
In Revelation 13:13-14,
John spoke concerning the false prophet working miracles.
"And he doeth great wonders, so that he maketh fire come down from heaven on the earth in the the sight of men, and deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live."
From this, we see that devil works miracles. God used signs and wonders in the land of Egypt by the hand of Moses. So did the devil by the hands of the magicians of Egypt. (Read Exodus Chapter 7).
In our day, we have the same encounter as Moses' day.
II Tim. 3:6-8
"For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, ever learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith."
